Société Ivoirienne de Biosciences et d'Informatique Médicale

The Société Ivoirienne de Biosciences et d'Informatique Médicale (SIBIM) is Côte d'Ivoire's national learned society dedicated to the promotion and development of digital health with a particular focus on telemedicine and medical informatics. SIBIM works at the intersection of technology and healthcare, bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers, medical informatics experts, students, and other stakeholders to advance the quality and accessibility of health services in Côte d'Ivoire. SIBIM's founding story is inseparable from HELINA's own history. In 2006, three of SIBIM's founders — Professor Ehua, Dr. Nanan, and Mr. Kpon — attended the 5th Pan-African Health Informatics Conference (HELINA 2006). Energised by what they encountered, they returned to Côte d'Ivoire and established SIBIM in 2007. Just two years later, SIBIM hosted the 6th Pan-African Conference (HELINA 2009) in Grand-Bassam under the leadership of Sedicks Isaac, a milestone that cemented the association's place within the continental health informatics movement. Since its founding, SIBIM has been a consistent voice for digital health in Côte d'Ivoire, contributing to national eHealth planning, building professional capacity, promoting research, and connecting Ivorian professionals to regional and global networks.
