Continental Digital Health Interoperability Workshop

This closed workshop, hosted by Africa CDC, GIZ, HELINA, brought together key stakeholders to advance health data interoperability across Africa. Discussions centered on aligning frameworks and laying the groundwork for connected health systems that serve patients, clinicians, and health institutions across borders.

Digital Transformation Technical Consultative Meeting

📅 August 25–26, 2025

This meeting, jointly convened by Africa CDC and the GIZ Office to the African Union (GIZ-AU) and facilitated by HELINA, engaged digital health leaders from AU Member State leaders on the next phase of Africa CDC’s Digital Transformation Strategy (2025–2030). Key conversations focused on aligning with the Lusaka Agenda, addressing persistent gaps in infrastructure and financing, and ensuring countries can move from strategy into practical, country-owned implementation.

Digital Health Leaders Forum 2025

📅 August 27, 2025

This exclusive forum brought together AU Member State Digital Health Leaders for peer learning and exchange, organized by Regenstrief, Africa CDC and HELINA. Leaders shared governance models and leadership approaches aimed at scaling sustainable digital health transformation across the continent.

Africa on FHIR

📅 August 25–29, 2025

This week-long connectathon and hackathon convened developers, implementers, and standards experts from across Africa to build capacity on HL7 FHIR. Sessions, led by trainers from HL7 International, HELINA, WHO, Jembi, Google Health, and IntelliSOFT, included hands-on learning, real-world use cases, and country-prioritized scenarios to strengthen Africa’s health data interoperability ecosystem.
