Building AI-Ready Health Systems in Africa: Infrastructure, Governance, Local Ownership, Data, and Deployment

About this webinar
International Medical Exchange (IME), in partnership with the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), announces the second webinar in the AI4African Health Initiative series. The webinars are designed as engagements leading up to the AI4African Health Initiative Stakeholder Conference, taking place in Morocco in April 2027. The series will help shape the strategic agenda, align key stakeholders and build momentum toward this continental convening.
The AI4African Health Initiative brings together national bodies, such as Ministries of Health, Ministries dealing with Technology, and Development Finance Institutions, with intergovernmental organisations such as WHO, Africa CDC and the African Union, as well as global technology leaders, academia, civil society and investors from across all 54 African countries, to mobilise collective action around AI-enabled health transformation.
The goal is to position Africa not merely as a recipient of digital health innovations, but as a leader in the ethical design, deployment and scaling of AI-driven healthcare systems, rooted in African ownership, local contexts and sustainable implementation.
HELINA is a member of the organising committee for the AI4African Health initiative, jointly organised with IME, ISfTeH, the South African Health Informatics Association (SAHIA) and partners.
Who should attend
Digital technology and AI policy and decision makers, planners and professionals from government, academia, industry, civil society, development organisations and funding institutions.
