Women in Tech

Women in Digital Health is a storytelling series from KeHIA and openIMIS that profiles and spotlights women contributing to health informatics and digital health across Africa. Each profile follows one woman’s path into the field, the work she leads today and the change she is working toward. HELINA’s community and network help carry these stories to a wider audience across the continent.

HELINA

Vision

A digital health sector across Africa where women are as visible in leadership, innovation and policy as they are in the workforce and where the next generation of girls entering STEM can point to a woman who has already done what they hope to do.

Mission

Document and share the real, working stories of women advancing digital health across Africa and put those stories in front of the people who make up the continent's digital health field.

Purpose

Digital health and health informatics remain fields where women are underrepresented, particularly in innovation and leadership roles, even as more women enter STEM across the continent. KeHIA and openIMIS both work closely with women doing exceptional technical and policy work that rarely gets the same visibility. This series exists to close that gap in recognition one profile at a time.
