Dr. Frances Baaba da-Costa Vroom

Dr. Frances Baaba da-Costa Vroom is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, University of Ghana. Over the last 18 years, Baaba has worked in academia, the health sector and computing industry.
She has expertise in IT infrastructure set up and maintenance, development of hospital management systems and end user training and support, teaching and research. She has consulted for the WHO, ITU, HISP-SA and other organizations on various digital health issues.
Her research interests are in mobile health (mHealth), technology acceptance in health care, health informatics education and digital health benefits realisation. She has peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on digital health and public health. She serves on the executive committee of the Ghana Health Informatics Association. She has served on the HELINA Board for 6 years; first as the Secretary and as the President.
Baaba has a PhD in Public Health and MSc in Health Informatics, both from the University of Ghana. She was a visiting scholar with the University of South Florida in 2019 and a Queen Elisabeth Scholar with McGill University and University of Ghana.
